This guide will help you disable popular third-party antivirus software. Disabling your antivirus may be necessary if it is causing issues with certain applications or installations.
Removing Your Antivirus #
- Open the Control Panel.
- Go to “Programs and Features.”
- Find “Your Antivirus” in the list of installed programs.
- Click “Uninstall” and follow the prompts to remove Avast.
- Restart your computer.
Disabling Avast Antivirus #
- Open Avast Antivirus from the system tray or Start menu.

- Go to “Protection” and then “Antivirus.”
- Click on “Open” under “Advanced Threat Defense.”
- Toggle off the switch for “Advanced Threat Defense.”
Disabling Kaspersky Antivirus #
- Open Kaspersky Antivirus from the system tray or Start menu.
- Go to “Settings” and then “Protection.”
- Toggle off the switch for “File Anti-Virus” and other protection modules.
- Confirm by clicking “OK” or “Yes.”
